Been a little busy...

So life has been a little busy this month. Between the move, volunteering at Kid's Week for church, unpacking, getting settled and the start of my busy season at work, I really haven't had the time to post anything.

Plus I don't have internet at the house yet. Minor inconvience, but at least I have satelitte now. I forgot how much I love DirecTv. Plus, I get HBO, Showtime and Skinamax free for 3 months as well as the NFL Sunday Ticket free for the season (if there is a NFL season this year). I have been taking advantage of the free movie channels and filling my DVR up. I realized the other night how many movies from the past 2 years or so that I haven't seen. I will be set for entertainment for that rainy or too hot to do anything else time that is sure to come.

The townhouse is really starting to come together. I spent some time this weekend, going through the boxes that had been piled up in "my office" and trying to decide how to set up that room and where I am going to store items that I don't really need access to year round(like Christmas decorations and such). I made quite a bit of progress, but also spent some time sitting on the floor crying. I came across some books and journals that brought back some memories.

It was actually a good cry. I haven't really taking any time lately to grieve so I did that on Saturday afternoon. It felt good.

I still have a few boxes that need to be gone through and I am purposedly saving them to last. They contain a lot of memories that I am just not ready to open yet. Plus, I need to make sure that I have a fresh box of Kleenex available too.

So, I promise I am still alive and doing well. I am enjoying my new life and ready to see what is in store for me.

One year ago today.....

So today is another milestone. Exactly one year ago today the life as I knew it at that time changed forever. One year ago today, the love of my life and best friend went to a meeting and never came home again. One year ago today my heart broke into a million pieces. One year ago today, Jason walked out of my life.

However, as I think about the events of June 20, 2010, I never would have imagined at that time that I would be where I am today. The pain, the tears, the uncertainty, the anger, the bitterness, and the grief that were present on that day are starting to fade.

As I think about how I felt on that day and what was going through my mind, I am amazed at where I am today. I have come a long way. I know that I am a much stronger woman now. I know that I have a great job and can support myself. I know that I have awesome and supportive friends and family members. I know that I am going to be just fine. I know that there is life without the person who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I know that I am going to be okay.

A lot has happened in a year. A lot of change, new adventures, new life, new job, new house, new friends, new church, etc. And I am so looking forward to what the next year brings.

I can’t wait to continue my journey of learning to live, laugh and love all over again.

Organized Chaos

So I am all moved into my new place. And moved in means, all of my stuff is inside. That does not mean that all of my stuff is out of the boxes. It is what I like to call "organized chaos" right now. There are boxes in every room. Except for my bedroom. I did unpack the last box in that room after the second night. I couldn't stand trying to fall asleep with boxes sitting around in eyesight. Plus Calvin was having way to much fun at night playing in and out of them

But that is the only room that I can claim as being all unpacked. It is actually kind of organized too. It aids in the calming effect that I now desire at night. Plus with a paint color like "evening stroll" on the walls, how can it not do nothing but radiate calmness.

I am really enjoying my new place. I even cooked on the gas stove for the first time the other night. I started out with the basic mac and cheese and then ventured into stir fry the second night. I think I am starting to get the hang of it. Plus I love how fast water boils now. But not quite used to the gas smell yet. But don't worry I do have a carbon monoxide detector installed so I am not going to pass away in my sleep.

I am also enjoying the patio out back. For the better part of the day, the patio is shaded by the townhouse and when it is not shaded, I can use the nice big umbrella that I have. My neighbors have already commented on their jealousy of my sectional and table and chairs, but they have a fire pit, so I know where I will be come fall. Or at least where their fire pit will be come fall. Since it is not real humid yet, I have been able to eat outside at night. Which is good, because the kitchen table is covered with pictures that need to be hung. I guess my motivation to hang them will come when the temps and humidity become unbearable. But that also means I will need some assistance in completing the task.

As for Calvin and Hobbes, they seem to be adjusting to their new home as well. Calvin loves to sit and look at the window by the front door and watch me leave in the morning and then he loves to watch me come home. I am not sure if he just sits there all day or not. Probably not since he also makes me pull up the blinds in the living room window so he can look at back. He was so excited the morning that the landscapers were cutting the grass. Hobbes just loves to lay on the sofa under the air vent and then a spot on the hardwood floor near the kitchen. He also loves to run up and down the stairs. I think that he has decided that in his old age, he needs to get back in shape.

I promise to post pictures soon. I don't have internet yet at the house, so I am currently at Caribou taking advantage of the free wifi and totally forget to bring the camera to off load and up load the pictures.

Until then, you will just have to use your imagination.
